About Caravaggio
Caravaggio
is a small municipality located
in the Bergamo Province Region of Lombardy in Northern Italy about
30 miles northeast of Milan.
Carlo Bussini was born 1883 in Caravaggio, Italy. In 1908 he
married Rosa Castoldi. Carlo and Rosa had 2 daughters, Angelica
and Genevieve. Carlo then traveled by boat across the Atlantic and
arrived in the United States at Ellis Island. Due to a recording
error the spelling of his name was changed to Bossini. Carlo then
traveled across the country and arrived in Walla Walla, WA in 1919 where
he began farming. A few years later his wife and daughters were
able to come and join him. The family grew with the addition of
Josephine and son Louis in 1924. Carlo died in 1969 and his son
Louis followed in his footsteps in agriculture growing Walla Walla Sweet
Onions. Today 4 generations of the Bossini family still live in
Walla Walla Valley.
